Electrical Remodeling in Milwaukee

Remodeling an older Milwaukee home is where its wiring gets a full accounting. New work has to meet current code, it has to connect to whatever is already there, and the two frequently do not meet.
Kitchen and Bath Wiring
Kitchens carry the most requirements of any room: dedicated circuits for the appliances, small-appliance branch circuits at the counters, receptacle spacing, GFCI protection, and AFCI protection on most of it. Milwaukee basements are the other common remodel, and they start from a specific problem: the wiring down there was never intended to be behind a finished wall. Exposed runs, surface-mounted boxes and original receptacles that predate GFCI requirements all have to be brought up to standard before drywall goes on.
Basements bring a second consideration that upper floors do not. They sit below grade, they are frequently damp, and most of them house the furnace, the water heater and the laundry. That combination changes what is required where — protection at receptacles, clearances around fuel-burning appliances, and the question of how a finished ceiling will let anyone reach equipment that needs servicing.
Ceiling height is the other basement constraint, and it is unforgiving in Milwaukee's older homes.
